How the part fits? This female hinge connects to a gate frame with a 1-5/8" outside diameter. 

Where is it installed? The female hinge clamps to the gate frame. 

How many do you need? For most gates, two female hinges and two male hinges are required. For gates taller than 6 feet, additional hinges are recommended.
